Summer Fruit Nail Art

Last day of work experience! To celebrate (well not really, but you get what I mean) I did some summery fruits on my nails. So we have (thumb to little finger) an orange, a lime, a strawberry, a kiwi and a misshapen banana. I hate bananas, dammit. I really hate bananas.

Fimo experiments...

My Fimo pieces have been slobbing around my room for an age after my terrible experiences with the three flower canes that were included :( Seriously, they would get caught on anything and everything and by second or third period there would be these huge ugly holes in my nail polish :( Plus, they were really time consuming and boring to cut.

aha.

First, I painted my nails with this orange franken.
Then I got my fimo canes and decided to slice them. Surprisingly difficult as these were fruit shapes and the majority were a lot thicker than what I'd been used to. So I filled a mug to the brim with hot (like, from the kettle) water and put clingfilm over the whole thing before resting the canes on the whole thing. A few minutes on that and they were a lot easier to slice thinly.
What do you guys think? I topped it off with a gold glitter polish from Rimmel.

These actually managed to stay on for three/four days without falling off, which I was really pleased with! I've come to the conclusion that round canes are just easier to use than the flower ones. How do you guys find fimo?

Love,

September Lena

Happy Easter! Screw you Avon. Plus Easter Themed Nail Art.

Yeah, that's right.

The gorgeous Avon "Flash" that I swatched yesterday? It chipped after about a day and a half. I was horrified. It was SERIOUS chipwear. :( Such a shame, when "Minimalistic Peach" - which I reviewed here - lasted without any chips until I took it off. I'll give them the benefit of the doubt and put it down to the topcoat, which probably last saw light some time in the 90's (meh. It was free.) and was really rather gloopy. I'll swatch it again at some point.

In other news, I hope everyone has had a great easter! As I was so disapointed with the Avon I painted over it with my Chocolate Franken that I talked about here. It's practically empty now but I want to make more frankens and I need that bottle to store them in :P

My franken with my easter egg. One of four that I got. Yeah baby! This one was a Nestle's KitKat one. Was lush. Yes, as a Christian I should so be against all this commercialisation rubbish. But it tastes so good :)

Just to show off the franken a bit more. I think my skin matches the egg, kinda :P And now for the nail art. I decided to use my brown Nail Art pen to graffiti my nails so that they looked like the weird crackle/shell patterns on this egg...
Happy Easter!

Nail Art

So I heard about this nail art contest being held at Charming Nails and I decided to enter. Here's my offering:

It's a beach with sun and some palm trees. This is completely picture heavy, you have been warned!
The picture above is to prove it's a full manicure.

The contest is here: http://charmingnails.blogspot.com/2010/03/kansainvalinen-kilpailu.html
I used the Avon blue with the Chinese nail art pens in dark yellow, dark green and a brownish/reddish colour.

Gotta love Hong Kong

Goodies! I have loads of new stuff off eBay which took ages to arrive (fair enough, seeing as it's from Hong Kong) but is well worth the wait! First off, a lovely set of five Konad plates. Two are French Manicure ones which are slightly tricky to line up but look great, and the other three are a mixture of flower designs, Chinese characters and the greatest HELLO KITTY plate – yeah baby :P I also have a pink plastic stamper and scraper.
Next, I have a set of twenty five Fimo nail art canes. There are three flower canes in purple, yellow and pink, but the rest are different fruit shapes such as watermelon, apple, bananna, strawberry…list goes on. Good buys seeing as I got the whole lot for much less than seven quid. Expect to have your eyes assaulted by my nail art :P
