School Konading

It was a Tuesday when I did this look, and I felt like pushing the boundaries somewhat so I came up with this.
It's basically a sheer, french manicure type polish from Nails Inc (Sloane Mews) and the Konading is the ASOS Paint Alexa. I told you they were pigmented, didn't I? But I didn't realise just how good they were for stamping. They've surprised me, I have to admit - I thought it was all pretty bottles and no actual substance, but hey!

Thought I'd zoom in on the little finger design just for lolz.
Anyway. School appropriate look (ish) that lasted well chip wise.

School Appropriatness

Recently, I've been kind of neglecting school appropriate looks - the teachers have been kinda lax in the weeks leading up to SUMMER (woot) and so I've been getting away with the most outrageous eye makeup and nail polish. Orsums. But recently, I yearned for a return to simpler times. Behold, my (sort of) school appropriate design:
If you reduce the amount of pink french tip you can get away with it, I think. I used Nails Inc Sloane Mews to even out any discolouration in my nails and also buffed them with this buffer I got for £1 from Wilkinsons (the Image range). It's surprisingly good...don't know how long it'll last, but for a pound it's alright.
To create a smile line I used a cotton bud dipped - no, soaked - in nail polish remover and basically rubbed it on the excess varnish to make it pretty. Then, I simply put the Sloane Mews polish over it (it's very sheer so I was quite confident it wouldn't stain my nails any more than they were) and yeah, you're good to go.

Isn't it typical? Be draconian on nails = outrageous polish and nail art. Be lax as anyone's business = suddenly, school appropriate again. Ah well. Schools out now anyway so I can do whatever. I. like. That's right.

Until next time,

Lena

School/Monday Appropriate Polishes

I thought I might as well group all my relatively tame/sheer polishes together that I could get away with at school. Some of these are generic randomers but others are ones that weren't discontinued in the 90's...haha :P
I have nine polishes that I can choose between for Mondays/Wednesdays, when my nails are likely to be checked.
With flash.
Without flash. The polishes are, from left to right:
Avon "Minimalistic Peach"
Generic Peachy colour :P
Generic Pearl
Nails Inc "Sloane Mews"
Rimmel "Lycra Wear"
From thumb to little finger:

Rimmel "Lycra Wear"

I'm not too keen on the peach colour on the index finger. It shows up as fine gold microshimmer and is the most noticible out of all the polishes. I might use it for frankening or something. The Generic Pearl, I quite like. (I did one coat of everything) Sloane Mews is pratically a clear polish but I like to layer one of the Boots polishes over it to give it some kick. Rimmel Lycra Wear is one of my favourite gold glitters. It's buildable, and the glitter is so fine and shimmery it goes wild in the sunlight.
Left to right - Generic Silver Glitter, Boots Glitter Babes in Clear, Confetti and Glitter.
From Right to Left (just to keep you on your toes, aha)
Generic Silver Glitter,
Boots Glitter Babes in:
Clear,
Confetti
Glitter.

Confetti just sucks as a polish. It's so hard to pick up any of the hexagonal glitter and when you manage, it just falls off after about twenty minutes or so. However, what I like about Confetti and Glitter is that they tint your nails a slightly, barely noticable pink colour which really makes Sloane Mews pop. The Clear has long strands of bar glitter in them. You usually end up with about four or so on each nail if you make a special effort to get it on. Not bad, I guess. Glitter and the Generic Silver are the most noticable, in my opinion. The glitter in the Generic Silver is larger, though, and a uniform silver, whearas in the Boots Glitter, the glitter is smaller and many different colours. Anyway, I'll choose one of these lucky polishes to wear to school tommorow. Joy, eh?

Love,

September Lena

Sheers for School - Avon Colour Trend Minimalistic Peach

Hi! Today I went to school with this colour on - a recent acquisition from a family friend. It's a great, very light pearly pink.
That was three coats, and there is still VNL but it's just so pretty! I couldn't stop staring at my nails, they reminded me of Mother of Pearl or something.

Do you guys thing this suits me? It looks very golden in this picture but it's not really.

And a bottle shot:
