KIKO 222

Nude...with a twist.

SAM_0347

This really reminds me of a nail polish released in the Illamasqua Toxic Nature collection, but it's less weird.

As always, great application and lasted a few days without chipping and minimal tipwear. Pretty sure we've nearly reached the end of this intial KIKO polish haul, but I visited Westfield a week or so ago and I stocked up on some more...

Miss Sporty?

I really wanted the glittery topcoat, and during the Christmas period Superdrug did a lot of promotions on various makeup lines. I can't remember what the exact deal was on Miss Sporty but it involved a free nail polish (I think) if you bought some other items from the range? I don't know. I'd been eyeing the topcoat for some time, so this just gave me a good excuse to get it.

I bought the brown colour because it looked unusual - yes, stupid on my part, as I know how horrid their nail polishes go after not very long. Still haven't tested it.

This is my second experience with their lipstick range - the first was when I was fourteen, and bought a not-very-opaque black lipstick to vamp around in and pose for Facebook photos wearing. Yup. Don't remind me. That one wasn't scented. I don't know if all their lipsticks are now scented or they've reformulated the range or it's just this one or what. But this smells very strongly of bubble gum, just like it's name. It's quite novel, for me - I like it!

The colour is halfway between sheer and opaque...highlights lines in a not very flattering way, and I don't have very 'liney' lips. Might be a bit too light, as well. I like it as a somewhat wearable way into the whole 'peach/bright lips' trend that was big last summer, though knowing my luck it won't be this summer.

Thoughts?

Nails Inc Lowndes Square

This was the first of Nails Inc's Autumn/Winter collection that I got for my birthday!
When I first saw this colour, I thought it would be too similar to Jermyn Street (a cool brown/taupe) but it's actually quite different. It's like a dusky lavender with some brown in it. Quite interesting, actually!
Wear was very decent, but I'm wondering if that was more to do with me cutting my nails right down than the actual polish. Application was nice and smooth, but you had to let the first coat dry thoroughly before adding the second or some bubbles would form. Thankfully, drying time was good.
Nails Inc were so nice as to write "flammable" and then add a little picture of a fire so that we all got the message, lol. I thought most people were aware that Nail Polish is:
-toxic
-flammable
-not particularly great for the environment
Or perhaps not, then.

Rawr. My claw is out to...claw you! No, just kidding, I love my readers <3
All in all, I really like this polish. Nails Inc usually get it right and this colour is interesting enough to keep me guessing. It's like a mix of the brown/taupe/grey/purple colours that have been in vogue for some time and ambiguous enough for me not to be able to call it any one of the above. Also, it basically melts off the nail with a little bit of polish remover, which I approve of as I hate having to scrub at my nails to clear them of polish.

Nails Inc Jermyn Street

I'm hoping some of you will remember, not too long ago I told you all about the Free Nails Inc polish with the December issue of Glamour? Well, I picked one up myself and found the little gem that is Nails Inc Jermyn Steet.

This went on really well and was opaque in two coats. I'm still eager to try out Barry M Nail Paint in "Mushroom" because that looks like a really dark brown and I felt this was quite cool on my skintone. Still, I like it. It's a cool nude.
No bubbles. It didn't last particularly long without a topcoat though, only a day before it began chipping. Which sucks. If I'd paid £10 a bottle for this, which is the RRP if I remember correctly, I'd be fuming. I shouldn't have to wear a topcoat, dammit :P I haven't tried it with one yet, though, so perhaps I'll update this when I have.
It dried really quickly as well, which is always a plus since I ran out of my fast drying topcoat. Boo, Sally Hansen. Way to go cloudy and gloopy halfway down the bottle. Thanks for that.
The real plus of this polish, in my opinion, is in the removal. It genuinely melts off the fingernail when you apply removal to it. No rubbing, no effort of any kind involved, just wipe and you're ready to go. Makes my life so much easier. A+
Did anyone else pick up a copy of Glamour this month? Let us know if you did!

Frankens and Konad!

My school's production of Les Mis ended a week ago and since I was involved (playing the violin in the orchestra, it was great fun!) I went to the afterparty at the boy who plays Marius's house yesterday :P Was great fun, but this is how my nails looked like:

That was the design on my right hand. See, as I was getting ready for the party I frankened this polish out of an old eyeshadow:

Yeah, I love it too. Reminds me of chocolate :D So I Konaded over the top of it with a baby pink Nails Inc. polish.

On the left hand, I painted the nails the same Nails Inc. baby pink colour, but simply Konaded over it with this brown polish like so:

The rose on the index finger went slightly wrong, so I stuck a couple of Fimo shapes over it.

All in all, I'm quite pleased with the effect! I got quite a few compliments - well, before everyone got too drunk to care, haha. Anyway, what do you think about my first franken attempt?
